If you want to know how I feel about AI—I’m drinking the Kool-Aid. It’s like when I first found out about Google. I held on to Ask Jeeves longer than I should have, but once I realized how good Google was, I felt like I had a super power that no one else had.
But I’m not interested in arguing about yadda yadda advanced autocomplete yadda yadda. It’s probably not going to take my job, but not because I’m too smart, but because the job is going to change.
What I Don’t Like
- Tired of all the ✨ sparkle icons in every app I use.
- The environmental impact definitely sucks.
How I Use AI on this site
I don’t. All of the words are “mine” in the sense that they have been created via input into a markdown file, but I’m also just as infallible and prone to hallucinations as any LLM. I may use generative AI to provide code examples for repetitive tasks that I hate doing like naming CSS classes or React. These instances will be clearly marked as such.
I’m not against the idea, but I think it’s important to keep an individual voice among all the noise, especially so these days.
